Basic Usage
- ACE3 Javelin Wiki Documentation: https://ace3mod.com/wiki/feature/javelin.html
Despire there being a lot of indicators in the "scope" view of the FGM-148, the actual usage is rather simple.
- Ensure that you have a missile loaded in the Tube
- Aim down the "scope" and aim at the target you wish to strike.
- Fully Zoom in all the way
- Switch to thermal mode by using your "Toggle Nightvision" key (Default: N)
- Hold the Tab key while still aiming at the Target
- Keep the Tab key held down till the beeping noise changes and a cross appears over the target. Your launcher is now ready to fire.
- Press the Fire button to launch the missile. The missile will automatically guide itself to the target.
Command Launch Unit Status Indicators
Day (DAY) Indicator
This indicator lights up green if the CLU (Command Launch Unit, AKA the "Scope") is in Normal/Daytime mode (Not in Nightvision or Thermal View).
Wide Field-of-View (WFOV) Indicator
Indicator lights up if the Device is in Wide-FOV view (4x Zoom)
Narrow Field-of-View (NFOV) Indicator
Indicator lights up if the Device is in Near-FOV view (12x Zoom)
Seeker (SEEK) Indicator
The SEEK indicator is located in the upper right corner of the CLU display. It lights up as soon as a valid lock has been established and when the missile is ready to be fired.
Top Attack (TOP) Indicator
The green TOP indicator illuminates when the CLU is in top attack mode (default).
Direct Attack (DIR) Indicator
The green DIR indicator illuminates when the CLU is in direct attack mode.
Filter (FLTR) Indicator
The green FLTR indicator illuminates green when the CLU is in either WHOT (White-HOT) or BHOT (Black-HOT) Thermal modes.
HANGFIRE Indicator
The HANGFIRE indicator is located on the bottom left side of the CLU display. The HANGFIRE indicator flashes to indicate a missile hangfire when the gunner squeezes the fire trigger and the missile does not launch.
This is currently not implemented in ACE's Javelin implementation and is there purely for cosmetic reasons.
CLU BATTERY Indicator
The CLU BATTERY indicator is located on the middle left side of the CLU display. The indicator lights up to indicate that the CLU battery has about 5 minutes of operating time remaining.
This is currently not implemented in ACE's Javelin implementation and is there purely for cosmetic reasons.
MISSILE BIT FAILURE Indicator
The MISSILE BIT FAILURE indicator is located on the top left side of the CLU display (Bottom right on real FGM-148 CLU's). A steady light indicates that the missile BIT has detected a failure in the missile, and a flashing light indicates a misfire when the gunner squeezes the fire trigger and the missile does not launch.
This is currently not implemented in ACE's Javelin implementation and is there purely for cosmetic reasons.
